Dated: Tuesday, April 11, 2017

Class: Grade 3, 4 and 5 Science

Objectives:

Students will learn:

• The fundamental importance of understanding germination and plant growth.
• The organic materials needed for plant germination.
• How photosynthesis drives plant growth.
• Experiments that test germination needs.

What do we need?

• Fresh seeds
• Pot
• Fertile soil
• water

Procedure

1. Fill the container/pot with soil.
2. Plant the seeds inside the soil.
3. Place the container somewhere warm, sunlight is good but try to avoid too much direct sunlight.
4. Keep the soil moist by watering it every day (be careful not to use too much water).
5. Record your observations as the seeds germinate and seedlings begin to sprout from the seeds.

Importance of plantation

Why are Trees so important? Trees are vital. They give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil and give life to the world’s wildlife. They also provide us with the materials for tools and shelter.

Ecological and Environmental Value. Trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. During the process of photosynthesis, trees take in carbon dioxide and produce the oxygen we breathe.
