Say No To Valentines Day!

Festivals are more idiosyncratic by which religions are told apart, going along with them in their festival may, in some cases lead to disbelief. Dabbling in these things, at a very least is a sin. The Prophet (Peace Be upon Him) referred to the fact that every nation has its own festivals.

The clear evidences from Quran and Sunnah show that there are two Eids in Islam. Every other Eid-whether it is to do with a person, group, incident or any other occasion-is an innovated Eid.It is not permissible for the Muslims to participate in it, approve of it, make any show of happiness, or assist in it in any way-since this will be transgressing the bounds of Allah (SWT).

Celebrating Valentine’s Day means resembling or imitating the Pagan Romans. Several stories associated with the various Valentines are connected to February 14. People have different point of views about Valentines Day. Some people say it is against teachings of Islam .Some people take it as a modern approach and say that there is nothing bad celebrating a day with someone especial in your life. This celebration includes exchange of chocolates and flowers, red wearing and small gatherings.

Though flowers, candy and cards can be nice, but real feelings should be demonstrated in countless more practical ways everyday. Love in Islam is more general and more comprehensive; it is not restricted to only to one kind of love. There is the love of Allah (SWT), Love of His Messenger (peace be upon him) and his companions, love for righteous people, love for religion. There are many kinds of love.

Everyday is filled with blessings.
Don’t you see them? Just look around.
Everyday is filled with blessings, yes it is
Look for those blessings you’ve not yet found.

Referring to the religious perspective and cultural perspective Valentines Day is completely unacceptable and vulnerable. One must look at the historical account, if wishes to celebrate it. By participating in such activities we are destroying our Islamic morals and standards of respect and dignity.

As Muslims we must keep ourselves apart from such events. We should not participate in any thing associated with Valentines Day. As teachers and parents we must pay attention to our children. Make sure to protect them from such activities by educating and monitoring them.
