Topic: Green House effect on Temperature

What did students do and learn?

This activity was done in the sunny ground in one large group with two thermometers from the lab and one glass jar.

About 50% students knew about green house and some of them even knew about few green house gases. Concept was explained to them about what these greenhouse gases do, their positive and negative effects, with use of greenhouse effect in everyday life. They used the example of a car standing in the sun, doors locked gets very hot from inside only in one hour.

Apparatus was set up in the sun. One thermometer was in the covered glass jar and one outside the jar. They noted a considerable rise in temperature on the thermometer placed inside the covered glass jar. They explained the reason of this rise in temperature which was due to greenhouse effect.

Hence, the students related their findings with the related concepts in’sha’Allah.
